• October 2018 Business of the Month - Farmer's Daughter Vineyards & Tasting Room

    • Share:
Farmer’s Daughter Vineyards is a locally owned fully bonded farm winery and custom crush facility. They also have a lounge style tasting room located in downtown Thomasville where you can taste all eight hand-crafted, award-winning local wines. Each wine is named after their daughter, and they set themselves apart from other southern grown wines by producing three varieties of French-American hybrid grapes.
They have over 60 awards—listed on their website—including three Best of Class awards for Sand Angel, Hellraiser and Heartbreaker in three separate California wine competitions. They were also awarded a $49,900 USDA value added producer grant to support their campaign The New Look of Georgia Wine. They distribute in Georgia and Florida and ship to 43 states.
    Humble Beginnings
Farmer’s Daughter Vineyards is a third-generation family farm that opened in May 2016. They were looking for ways to diversify their farm, and that meant adding crops that would provide a high return, which is what brought them to wine grapes. After some research, they decided a tasting room was a necessity. “We had been living in Thomasville for some time, completely enamored of the downtown area, its walkability and innate charm and the welcoming nature of its people,” said Renee Moss, farmer’s wife and co-owner of FDV. So, Thomasville was an undeniable choice for their store location.

    Farmer’s Daughter Business Philosophy
The Farmer’s Daughter team is really the core of the business. Their story, family and legacy contribute to their success. Renee says, “we are complete perfectionists, never quite satisfied with what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.” They understand that a business must evolve to suit the needs of their customer base. That is why they keep their focus on improvement and growth.
It also helps that they have such a supportive community of patrons here in Thomasville. “Every person who walks through our door is a brand-new friend, and we love establishing that relationship… getting to know them, their interests, and how we can brighten their day and help make their visit to Thomasville a perfect one,” Renee expresses about her customers.
Renee says they are lucky that they get to interact with people in a fun and friendly setting. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They can help you pick the perfect glass or take you through the full fleet. They have board games and a designated Kid Zone for some fun. Everyone can enjoy themselves at FDV.
