Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce our new Chamber Chairman for 2009. Charlie Brown was born in Abilene, Texas, but moved to Houston, Texas and played high school football there. Charlie attended Blinn College in Brenham, TX and the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Charlie has been married to his high school sweetheart, Susanne, for 36 years and they have three daughters who all are teachers in Thomasville. Charlie and Susanne are lucky to have eight grandchildren all living close by. The Browns are members of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church where Charlie is a Deacon and sings in the Church Choir.Starting with Blue Bell Creameries, L.P. in Houston in 1989, Charlie will celebrate his 20th year with the company this May, 2009. Moving several times to open new branches in Louisiana, Alabama and then to Thomasville in 2002, Charlie and Susanne have both been active with the Chamber since they arrived. Charlie is dedicated to the business community by being a member of the Chamber Existing Industry Committee and the Thomas County Employer Committee. Charlie also serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.This branch of Blue Bell Creameries is active with many organizations in Thomasville-Thomas County including the March for Babies, Muscular Dystrophy Association and American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
